Remedial works have begun on the sewage system and roadway at the Ocho Rios transport centre in St. Ann.

Transport minister Daryl Vaz had pledged to have the issues rectified, after vendors and public passenger vehicle operators staged a protest over the situation.

He said renovation work will be done soon on the bathroom at the bus park, as well as the installation of street lights, in and around the area.

Meanwhile, Mr. Vaz has signalled his intention to implement a free public wi-fi system at the transportation centre.
