UTASP-NERHA meeting to address issues affecting workers at St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital postponed until Monday
The Union of Technical, Administrative and Supervisory Personnel (UTASP) says its meeting with the Northeast Regional Health Authority (NERHA) has been postponed until Monday, July 29.
UTASP and NERHA were slated to meet today to address issues affecting medical records workers at the St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital in St Ann.
The workers called in sick on Tuesday, due to concerns about severe health and safety issues, stemming from deplorable working conditions.
Earlier this month, a fire reportedly damaged a section of the department, resulting in the staff not having an area to store their personal belongings and no designated bathroom facility, among other things.
Speaking with IRIE FM news this morning, UTASP President, St. Patrice Ennis said it was not mutually convenient for the meeting to be held today, so it has been rescheduled for Monday at 9:30 AM.
Mr. Ennis also noted that workers in the medical records department have returned to their duties.
This follows NERHA’s decision to meet with them to address their concerns.
