United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk has renewed his call for the urgent deployment of the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti to support the national police and bring security to Haitians.

His call comes amid a recent mass prison break.

More than 4,500 inmates, including prominent gang members have reportedly escaped.

In a statement, Mr Turk said the situation in the Caribbean nation has become untenable for Haitians.
