Two rifles were seized by the police during an operation in Mount Salem, St. James, today.

Police say one suspect was taken into custody in relation to the incident.

Today’s seizure brings to 5, the number of weapons recovered in St. James in less than 24 hours.

On Wednesday afternoon, three firearms, including a shotgun, and over 60 rounds of ammunition were seized during a joint police/military operation in Albion in the parish.

Three men were arrested in relation to that seizure.

The identities of those detained have not yet been released.
