Two men were shot and killed in an alleged shootout with a joint police/military team in Rose Heights, St. James last night.

Their identities have not yet been released.

Operations Officer for the parish, Deputy Superintendent Linroy Edwards, said the two men were among a group that engaged the security forces in a gun battle that lasted for nearly an hour.

He noted that two firearms were recovered following the incident.

DSP Edwards said no member of the security team was wounded.

He noted further that the search continues for the other gunmen and firearms that were involved in the incident.
