Transport group urges operators upset at delayed fare increase not to participate in strike action
Amid reports of discomfort amongst some transport operators over the postponement of the fare increase which should have come into effect yesterday, at least one transport group is urging operators not to participate in strike action.
Groups representing public passenger operators and the Finance and Transport Ministries have agreed to hold off on the scheduled 16 per cent fare increase for April 1.
Some transport operators are reportedly not in favour of the move and have been discussing possible strike action for today.
However, the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services (TODSS) has urged them not to take this route.
TODSS President Egeton Newman says there will be a zero-tolerance approach for such action.
