Transport Group signals intent to ask government for fare increase

Another public transport group has signalled its intent to ask government for a fare increase.

The newly formed National Transportation Steering Committee (NTSC) says it will be submitting a fare increase request to the government on behalf of the public transportation sector.

This, it says, comes amidst, the steady rise in costs associated with running and maintaining transportation services across the country.

Acting Chairman of the Committee, Everton Style, said the proposed fare increase, aims to address various operational costs and service improvements necessary, to enhance the quality of service to the public.

Mr. Style says although the committee understands the implications of a fare increase on the public at this time, it is of the view, that a fare increase will enable the industry to continue providing safe, efficient, and reliable transportation that meets the needs of commuters.
