Tourism Minister to meet with management and staff of Royalton Negril Hotel following strike
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett and other key officials from the ministry are to meet with the management and staff of Royalton Negril Hotel in Westmoreland to discuss issues that led to a strike yesterday.
Scores of Royalton workers staged a protest outside the resort, calling for better working conditions and wages.
All the hotel’s departments were affected. IRIE FM News understands that the majority of the staff have not returned to work.
Meanwhile, speaking with IRIE FM News this morning, senior strategist in the Tourism Ministry, Delano Seiveright, said the ministry takes the concerns seriously.
He stressed the importance of tourism workers to the success of the industry and Jamaica’s growth overall.
Meanwhile, a guest at the resort has lamented that it is now approaching 36 hours without basic amenities.
