Thierry Henry named as coach of the French men’s team for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

FIFA World Cup winner Thierry Henry has been named as coach of the French men’s team for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The 46-year-old former Arsenal football club striker who also won the Euro 2000, will be replacing Sylvain Ripoll for the home games.

Ripoll, who was the coach of the youth side since 2017, was sacked earlier this month following a poor showing at the UEFA Under21 European Championship.

Henry, meanwhile, is returning to management after his stint with the Belgium national team at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

He was also part of the coaching staff for Belgium when they finished third at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Henry’s first game as coach will be a friendly against Denmark on September 7, followed by a Euro 2025 qualifier against Slovenia.
