The late constable Shackeal Ellis hailed for his jovial and loyal nature

Jovial, dedicated, courageous and loyal.

That’s how the late constable Shackeal Ellis was described by family and friends, who bid him farewell at the funeral service today.

Ellis, affectionately called Rick, who was assigned to the St. Mary police division, was found unresponsive in his room by his mother, at their home in Rock River district, in March.

He was later pronounced dead at hospital.

In the eulogy, delivered by Nerissa Davis Brown, it was pointed out that constable Ellis was a devout Christian.

Family friend and Member of Parliament for South East St. Mary Dr. Norman Dunn stated that Ellis commitment to duty was unwavering.

And, commanding officer for the St. Mary police division Superintendent Bobette Morgan Simpson said Ellis laugh served as therapy in difficult situations.

Ellis leaves to mourn his parents, siblings, spouse and 3 year old son, along with colleagues from the St. Mary police division.
