Taxi operators in Linstead, St. Catherine call for heightened police presence following last night’s murder of a taxi operator
Taxi operators in Linstead, St. Catherine are calling for heightened police presence and the installation of better lighting in the Linstead Transportation Centre.
Their calls follow the killing of one of their colleagues last evening and the wounding of two passengers.
Head of the St. Catherine North Police, Superintendent Hopton Nicholson, told IRIE FM news that the deceased whose identity has not yet been released, was shot and killed while transporting passengers, along King Street in Linstead.
He said he spoke with the taxi operators and pledged that his team will do all that is necessary to help keep the operators safe as they conduct their duties.
