Amid touring the continent of Europe Tanya Stephens, is urging Jamaicans to end partisan behaviour and engage in honest conversations about the Rural School Bus Programme.
The Other Cheek hitmaker took to Instagram where she reposted a photo of one of the recently acquired school buses encountering difficulties while traversing a roadway leading to Prattville Primary School. In her caption, Stephens tagged Transport Minister, Daryl Vaz, asking for clarity and assurance for parents and students who will be impacted by the buses’ deployment in September.
The post has since sparked a conversation among Stephen’s fans and the transport minister who responded to Stephens in the comments.
Vaz explained that the bus seen in the picture shared by Stephens, was a 54-seater. He also stated that a 32-seater which was included in the convoy of buses being tested on that route had no issue manoeuvring that road. The minister further stated that there are buses for various terrains, explaining that test runs now underway on 122 routes will determine what size bus would be ideal for each route. He further clarified that the larger buses would commute routes on main roads and urban areas and reiterated that majority of the buses are smaller.
In recent days several images have been circulating on social media of the buses encountering various issues including blown tyres and minor road mishaps.
