12-time title holders Ardenne High School earlier today walked away with the JCDC Marcus Garvey Awards for Excellence in Performing Arts award.
Ardenne took home a cash award and the coveted Marcus Garvey Awards for excellence in the performing arts trophy.
The awards which recognize outstanding individuals, schools and other groups was held at the Little Theatre in St Andrew.
This year’s nominees were eleven-time winners, St Jago High, Godfrey Stewart Performing Arts Society, Green Island High School and the Port Antonio Theatre Group.
The JCDC Marcus Garvey Awards for Excellence in the Performing Arts Category was first staged in 1994. It is the highest and most prestigious award given annually in the Jamaica Festival of the Arts Programme.
To be eligible for the award, the participant must have competed in a minimum of the three areas in the Performing Arts Competition, where the winner would have amassed the highest score based on the quality of awards received during the competition.
