Police have nabbed a suspect for the shooting and serious wounding of a police constable and another man in Clarendon last month.
He is 27-year-old Kirk Messam, otherwise called ‘Neko’, a deliveryman of Inverness Drive in Sandy Bay, Clarendon.
At about 8:30 P.M. on Friday July 26, the policeman was at a church event on Inverness Drive when he heard explosions nearby and went to make enquiries.
He was greeted with gunfire and reportedly returned fire before the gunmen ran.
The policeman was left nursing a gunshot wound to his abdomen, while another man was left with a gunshot wound to his buttocks.
Following investigations, detectives identified Messam as a suspect and initiated efforts to apprehend him.
Messam however turned himself in to the police accompanied by his attorney on Friday.
He has been charged with two counts of wounding with intent, unauthorized possession of ammunition, possession of a prohibited weapon and using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony.
