Students and staff at Pembroke Hall Primary to get counselling today following killing of night watchman on school’s compound

Guidance Counsellors from schools in the Quality Education Circle 5, will begin to offer support to students and staff of the Pembroke Hall Primary school in St. Andrew, today.

The Education Ministry said today’s session is slated to begin at 8:00 a.m.

Counselling is being offered to persons traumatized by the killing of the school’s night watchman.

Dead is 62-year-old Owen Mardner, otherwise called Chris, of Waltham Park Road, Kingston 11.

It was reported that about 6:30 a.m yesterday, students arriving on the campus found the guard beside his vehicle.

The ministry said persons initially thought the watchman was sleeping, but later discovered that he had what appeared to be bullet wounds.

An alarm was raised and the police summoned.

Classes were dismissed for the day, as the authorities started their probe into the incident.

Police theorize that Mardner was shot and killed between 10:30 Tuesday night and 6:50 Wednesday morning.
