STATIN implements strategies to increase rate of data collection for census

To mitigate the impact of a shortage of census workers, the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) has implemented several strategies aimed at increasing the rate of data collection.

This, as the census which should have been completed last December, had to be extended twice.

Speaking at a press conference this morning, the institute’s Director General Carol Coy, noted that operations in the post pandemic environment led to administrative challenges not faced in previous censuses.

She said the institute however quickly adapted, with most of the issues being resolved.

Mrs. Coy added that additional data validation will have to be done to preserve the integrity of data collected.
