St. Ann Police assure that SOE is working, despite 2 murders since measure declared

Despite two murders being recorded in St. Ann since the implementation of a State of Public Emergency, last week, the police have expressed confidence that the measure is working.

Last Wednesday, a State of Public Emergency was declared in St. Ann, Clarendon and the Kingston Western police divisions.

Since then, St. Ann has recorded two murders, with the most recent incident occurring in Ocho Rios, yesterday.

The police say a man identified by the alias, “Haitian” was stabbed to death.

A suspect is in custody in relation to the murder.

Speaking to Irie FM News this morning, head of the St. Ann Police, Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell said the arrest of someone in yesterday’s incident is an indication that the measures are working.

Noting that yesterday’s incident was domestic related, SSP Powell said the police will continue to target the town areas.
