Shericka Jackson beaten by Shacarrie Richardson in Doha Diamond League meeting
Reigning world 200 metres champion Shericka Jackson had to settle for 2nd place in the women’s 100 metres at the opening Doha Wanda Diamond League meeting today beaten by the American Shacarrie Richards.
Jackson was timed at 10.85 seconds as Richards posted a meet record and world leading 10.76 seconds, erasing the previous record of 10.82 seconds set by the now deceased American Torie Bowie in 2016.
In the meantime Olympic bronze medalist Megan Tapper cocked a season best 12.76 seconds for 4th place in the women’s 100 metre hurdles, which was won by Olympic Champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico in a season best 12.48 seconds.
Earlier Candice Mcleod placed 5th in the women’s 400 metres in 52.43 seconds, just ahead of Stephanie- Ann mcpherson who was 6th in 52.93 seconds – the event won by Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic in 50.51 seconds.
Rai Benjamin won the men’s event in 47.78 seconds and world champion Fred Kerley won the men’s 200 metres in 19.92 seconds.
