National Security Minister Dr Horace Chang and the police hierarchy today (June 15) conducted a walk-through of sections of Spanish Town St Catherine, following yesterday’s shootout among alleged gangsters.

Two men were killed by alleged gangsters, while a third man was fatally shot by a police officer who responded to the incident.

The area remains tense, with several business places staying closed, and very little activity otherwise, even as the security forces, have beefed up their presence to restore calm.

A 48-hour curfew has been imposed on the community, and during operations last evening, several persons were taken into custody.

Head of the JCF Communication Unit Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay told IRIE F-M news that Dr Chang has been briefed by the Divisional Commander on the situation.

SSP Lindsay added that the police commissioner is satisfied with the measures implemented in the area so far.
