Schools affected by strike by taxi operators
Dozens of school children and teachers were impacted by the withdrawal of service by Transport Operators today.
They include students sitting Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) tests.
President of the Jamaica Teachers Association, Leighton Johnson, told IRIE FM News that several schools across the island saw their attendance impacted significantly.
He noted that some students with external exams made alternative arrangements to get to their examination centres.
And, Principal of Hampton High School in St. Elizabeth Mahvell Carlton-Brown says some persons were unable to get to the school, because of the roadblock along the Malvern to Santa Cruz main road.
She explains that Internal Exams were pushed back for one day and special arrangements were made for students who were facing challenges in getting to CAPE exams.
