School administrators in wait-and-see mode to determine if classes will be held tomorrow, due to inclement weather

School administrators are in wait-and-see mode, as it relates to whether classes will be held tomorrow.

This, as the decision will be based on the alerts from the Met service about the inclement weather.

Several schools islandwide dismissed classes early today, due to heavy rains as well as a severe weather advisory and reports of a potential tropical storm development.

The Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA) said administrators will keep abreast of the situation, keeping in mind their schools’ environment and how it would be affected by rains tomorrow.

JTA President Leighton Johnson said student attendance today was low, due to the heavy rains.

Noting that some schools are located in flood-prone areas, or have teachers and students who live in flood-prone areas, Mr Johnson urged all to exercise caution, including avoiding crossing flooded roadways.
