Royalton employees return to work
Staff of the Royalton Negril hotel in Westmoreland have returned to work.
Approximately 200 workers walked off the job yesterday, and staged a protest outside the resort, calling for better working conditions and wages. All the hotel’s departments were affected.
Labour Minister Pearnel Charles Jr. says employees returned to work following a meeting with management, this morning.
He says his ministry will continue to monitor the situation, while measures are implemented to address the concerns of the workers.
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett and other key officials from the ministry are to meet with Royalton’s management and staff tomorrow to discuss the issues that led to the strike.
