Reggae Girlz remain highest placed Caribbean team on Fifa World rankings

Jamaica’s national women’s football team, the Reggae Girlz, have maintained their position and continues to be the highest placed Caribbean team on the FIFA Women’s World rankings.

The Reggae Girls in the latest release are ranked 42nd in the world, 11 places above their closest Caribbean rivals Haiti who occupy the 53rd position.

The latest ranking update took into account 154 international matches played in the past three months, with current World Champions Spain consolidating their position at the top of the table.

The Jamaicans, who were recently involved in a two-match friendly international series against Brazil, are number 4 overall in Concacaf behind United States (5), Canada (8) and Mexico (29). Costa Rica the only other team from the region inside the top 50 is ranked 44th.

The rest of the top five on the FIFA Women’s Rankings is completed by France, who overtook England to go 2nd, and Germany who moved up a spot above the USA to go 4th.

Further down, Sweden (6th) and Japan (7th) maintain their positions. Canada (8th, up 1), Brazil (9th, up 1) and Korea DPR (10th, up 1) all gain a spot, thereby easing the Netherlands (11th, down 3) out of the top ten for the first time in seven years.

Montenegro (85th, up 4) and El Salvador (90th, up 7) enjoy eye-catching advances within the top 100, while Belarus (55th, up 2) register the biggest points gain (up 31.91 points). The most striking progress in terms of ranking places is achieved by North Macedonia (123rd, up 12), in the wake of their solid wins over Latvia and Moldova.
