Reggae girls strike in 2023 was due to compensation owed to a handful of players ?

Jamaica’s  Reggae  Girls  who  made  themselves  unavailable  to  represent  the  country  after  a  successful  2023  World  Cup  campaign,  made  the  decision  on  the  basis  of  being  owed  US 2  thousand  dollars  by  the  Jamaica  Football  Federation.

This  was  revealed  by  the Fifpro, the  world  players  union  which  has  been representing  the Reggae  girls  in  their  deliberations  with  the  JFF since  November  last  year.

This  comes  after  nine  players  were  over-payed  1800  dollars   by  the  JFF  who  has  indicated  since  last  december  that  they  had  completed   all  payments  to  the  national  players.

It  has  been  revealed  that  this  2  thousand  dollars  is  owed  to just   three  players…………. and  includes  incidentals among  which  are  baggage  fees.

The  JFF is  said  to  have  also  overpaid  the  reggae  girls  some  2 million 46  thousand  dollars  during  the  campaign  leading  up  to  the  2023  FIFA  Womens  World  Cup  in  Argentina  and  New  Zealand.

The  action  taken  by  the  reggae  girls  resulted  in  jamaica  failing  to  qualify for the inaugural  Concacaf  Women’s  Gold  Cup  which  is  at  the  semi-final  stage  in  the  USA.
