Public hospitals will now enter emergency mode ahead of passage of Hurricane Beryl
All of the island’s public hospitals will now enter emergency mode.
This as Hurricane Beryl remains a threat to the island.
The Category 4 hurricane is expected to reach Jamaica by tomorrow.
In a statement today, the Health Ministry said while hospitals remain open, outpatient services and elective surgeries will be suspended.
It noted that visitations will be limited and family members are asked to pick up their relatives, who have been admitted for non-critical reasons.
The ministry said the Jamaica/Cuba Eye Care Programme has been suspended until further notice.
