Prime Minister visits captured settlement in St. Catherine following demolition exercise, yesterday

Prime Minister Andrew Holness today (October 7), visited the captured settlement next to the Clifton community in Bernard Lodge St. Catherine to speak with upset residents whose homes were demolished, yesterday (October 6).

The demolition came in the wake of reports that criminals had sold government lands to unsuspecting citizens.

Mr. Holness had indicated that based on reports from the land owner, SCJ Holdings cease and desist notices were issued twice, with photos of the notices shown.

But an upset resident said they never received any warning.

Mr. Holness noted that the residents, having been scammed into paying for land, need to make a report to the police.

The Prime Minister also urged residents who have concerns about the property they occupy to have discussions with SCJ Holdings.
