Prime Minister urges citizens to prepare for hurricane season
Be prepared! That‘s the advisory from Prime Minister Andrew Holness at the start of the 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
Speaking at this morning‘s meeting of the National Disaster Risk Management Council, Mr. Holness noted that Jamaica is oftentimes impacted by various forms of disasters, including earthquakes, floods, and hurricanes.
He urged residents especially those living in communities prone to disasters to always be ready.
This includes having an evacuation plan.
It also includes knowing a safe place to stay, either with a relative or at a shelter.
