PNP reiterates concern over government’s plan to divest AMC
The opposition People’s National Party, PNP, is again expressing concern over the government’s plan to divest the Agricultural Marketing Corporation, (AMC) which serves as hub for local farmers and entrepreneurs.
During a visit to the AMC, spokesman on Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Dayton Campbell, reiterated the call for transparency surrounding the government’s plans for divestment.
He highlighted the potential ramifications for the local agricultural sector, while noting that the persons who use the facility are not sure how they will be impacted.
Dr. Campbell said the AMC plays a crucial role in supporting local agriculture and as such government should consider alternative solutions to divestment.
