PNP reiterates call for gov’t to ramp up relief efforts and involve councillors in the process
The Opposition People’s National Party, P-N-P is urging the Local Government Ministry to provide adequate post hurricane support to councillors.
In a statement today, President of the PNP caucus of councillors and Mayor of Spanish Town Norman Scott said councillors are unable to serve affected residents effectively.
He said despite the dire need for resources such as building materials and care packages councillors who are easily accessible to residents have been left to navigate disaster response efforts without sufficient support from the ministry.
Mayor Scott called on portfolio Minister Desmond McKenzie to address the issue immediately.
