PNP in support of government’s agreement with IMF

The opposition People’s National Party, says it is in support of the government’s agreement, with the International Monetary Fund, IMF, under the resilience and sustainability facility.

On Thursday, Finance Minister, Dr Nigel Clarke, said Jamaica and the IMF, reached a staff level agreement for access to US$1.7 billion dollars through two multi-lateral instruments.

The IMF’s executive board is expected, to consider the requests, early next year.

In reacting to the agreement, opposition spokesperson on Finance, Julian Robinson, told Irie Fm news, that he believes the agreement, will help the country, to retire more debts.

He said, by freeing more of the country’s fiscal space, there will be more funds, to tackle other things.
