PM says government does not want to create brutal society, as calls for death penalty increase

Prime Minister Andrew Holness says while citizens’ call for the death penalty has increased, the government does not want to create a brutal society.

According to Mr. Holness, it has become evident that residents have grown tired of the crime and violence in the country and those who are responsible for it.

Although he acknowledges the havoc that criminals are wreaking on the society, Mr. Holness says there still has to be room for forgiveness.

He explains that the government has noted citizens concern about the issue and knows that serious action must be taken.

He points out that citizens have come to the realization that they must take a stand against criminals.
