PM says discussions have started with police about educating the public about interactions with the force

Prime Minister Andrew Holness says he has been discussing with the police commissioner, how to educate the public about their interactions with the force.

There have been several violent altercations between police and citizens over the years , particularly during police operations.

Mr. Holness indicates that steps have been taken to address concerns, including changes to the j-c-f use of force policy, and establishment of Indecom.

He adds that in recent times, the security forces have been able to conduct operations, with minimal violence.

However, the prime minister laments that there are still some instances of conflict between citizens and the security forces.

He says the security forces are in the process of transformation.

He was speaking yesterday at the first public presentation of the national commission on violence prevention, a safe, civil and violence free society.
