PM Holness Holness, wife and Tourism Minister depart the island for Rwanda
Prime Minister Andrew Holness has departed for Rwanda.
The prime minister, his wife Juliet and the rest of the delegation, departed the island last evening(Monday) to participate in the 26th commonwealth heads of government meeting in Kigali, Rwanda.
The meeting is being held under the theme: “Delivering a common future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming”.
The prime minister will be away from the country for the period June 20 to June 27.
Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Horace Chang, who is also Minister of National Security, will be in charge of the government during the prime minister’s absence.
And Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett has also left the island for Rwanda.
Mr. Bartlett has been invited to participate in a high-level panel discussion on ways to future-proof the international tourism industry, which will be held in Kigali on Wednesday.
Following his stop in Rwanda, Mr. Bartlett will travel to Lisbon, Portugal on Monday June 27 to attend the 2022 united nations ocean conference.
Mr. Bartlett is slated to return to Jamaica on Saturday July 2.
