PM commits to sending troops to Haiti to assist with quelling ongoing turmoil
Prime Minister Andrew Holness has committed to sending troops to Haiti in an effort to assist with quelling the ongoing turmoil in that country.
Haiti has been experiencing social turmoil with gangs wreaking havoc in the country.
In recent times, the country’s police officers have been the target of several attacks.
Speaking in parliament yesterday, Mr. Holness said representatives from Haiti have been invited to Jamaica, to deliberate on the possibilities of the proposal.
He said the police and the Jamaica Defence Force have been made aware of this possibility.
Mr. Holness said Jamaica remains committed to working with the region and other international bodies in aiding the situation in Haiti.
