Phillips calls on TA to use weekend to sensitize commuters about new fares
Opposition Spokesman on Transport Mikael Phillips has called on the Transport Authority to use this weekend to sensitize commuters about what they should expect their new fares to be.
The first phase of the 2 part increase in fares for public passenger vehicles, at 19 per cent, takes effect this Sunday, October 15.
The second phase, at 16 per cent will take effect next year April.
Mr. Phillips said the public education should be done before next Monday.
Phillips noted that the increase will be especially hard, on students and minimum wage earners.
