Patrons & vendors welcome resumption of in-person staging of Irie FM’s Marcus Garvey tribute celebration
The 30th annual tribute to Jamaica’s first National Hero Marcus Mosiah Garvey is underway in the Irie FM courtyard in Ocho Rios, St. Ann.
The celebration got underway at 6 o’clock this morning with a special extended version of the Africa Forum Running African, hosted by Ka’Bu Ma’at Kheru and Mutabaruka.
The theme for this year’s event is “Time come: remove the Queen and all remnants of colonialism”.
The event, which is the first face to face celebration since the onset of Covid-19, has seen a major turn out from several vendors and scores of patrons.
One vendor said she had been awaiting the resumption of the event.
She said celebrating Marcus Garvey and his teachings are even more important, in these challenging times.
