Parliamentarians pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II

Members of the House of representatives on Tuesday paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, following her death last week.

While government MP‘s hailed her work , opposition MP’s were strident in their call for an apology from the British Monarchy, and for Jamaica to become a republic.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness said Jamaica stands with the royal family, in this time of sorrow.

Meanwhile , opposition leader Mark Golding hailed the queen for being an effective monarch, but urged jamaica to complete the separation process.

Mp’s Fitz Jackson and Lisa Hanna, called on the house to acknowledge some hard truths about the monarchy.

In her closing tribute, Culture Minister Olivia Grange, responded to the concerns raised by the opposition Mp’s.
