Pakistan creates history in ICC World Cup win over Sr-Lanka

1992 winners Pakistan are still yet to taste defeat at the ongoing ICC One day International Cricket World Cup in India.

It comes after they completed a world record chase to comfortably beat Sri Lanka by 6 wickets to notch a second win from as many games.

Electing to bat the Sri Lankans piled up a daunting 344 for 9 off their allotted 50 overs with Kusal Mendis 122 and Sadeera samara-Wick-Rama 108….both getting centuries.

Opener Pathum Nissanka also added 51 against Hasan Ali who took 4 for 71.

At their turn to bat, Pakistan raced to an unbelievable 345 for 4 in 48.2 overs…….the highest-ever run chase in world cup history.

They were led by Mohammad Rizwan who slammed an unbeaten 131 and opener Abdullah Shafique who bladed 113 to record the highest score by a Pakistani batsman on his world cup debut.

The result sees Pakistan with a one hundred percent record entering Saturday’s massive showdown with arch-rivals and tournament host India.
