Over 500 police officers have been re-deployed from more static operations to provide security in public spaces.

Minister of National Security Dr. Horace Chang and Commissioner of Police, Major General Antony Anderson toured the corporate area yesterday to have a first-hand look at the deployments.

They made stops in Downtown Kingston, Cross Roads, Half Way Tree and Constant Spring Road.

Noting that this is one of the busiest weeks of the year, Dr. Chang says it was important to visit the business district.

He adds that vendors and other business people are happy for the increased police presence.

The minister indicates that he is pleased with the police efforts and the use of body-worn cameras.
