Opposition wants JPS to rescind estimated bill announcement and give customers discounts
Opposition Spokesperson on Energy Phillip Paulwell is calling on the Jamaica Public Service, JPS to rescind its announced decision to issue estimated bills for this month.
JPS has informed customers that bills for June to July may be estimated due to disruptions caused by Hurricane Beryl.
It said there are challenges carrying out actual meter readings manually and remotely and so customers may receive estimated bills, based on the last 3 actual readings.
In a statement yesterday, Mr. Paulwell termed the decision unconscionable, particularly as many customers are still experiencing power disruptions.
He is also calling on JPS to offer a significant discount to customers.
