One Voice Taxi Association says some level of normality returned to transport sector
President of the One Voice Taxi Association, Lorraine Oscar Finnikin says some level of normality has returned to the public transport sector, following a withdrawal of service earlier today.
The group had organized a two day protest, which saw scores of transport operators withdrawing their service, leaving commuters in several parishes stranded.
They were protesting against aspects of the new Road Traffic Act.
Speaking with Irie Fm News, Mr. Finnikin said island–wide turnout for the second day of the action, was low.
He said while some operators participated this morning, by this afternoon, most operators were back on the job.
Mr. Finnikin said the only response the sector has received from the government, is about the amendment of the child restraint requirement.
He said despite the low turnout of protesters, he expects the withdrawal to continue tomorrow.
