One man was killed while several other persons including school children, were injured in a motor vehicle accident along the Long Hill main road in St James on Thursday afternoon.

The identity of the dead man has not been released.

Its reported that due to heavy rainfall in the area, the driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle and it ran off the road ending up in a ravine.

Operations officer for the St. James police Deputy Superintendent Eron Samuels told Irie Fm news that rescue efforts are hampered by dense vegetation and a difficult terrain.

Meantime, a caller to Irie Fm, Sharon, explained that it was difficult to render help to the crash victims.

It’s reported that 2 of the 5 school children on the bus, suffered serious injuries.
