Omar Collymore and 2 of his co-convicts have been sentenced to life imprisonment, in relation to the murder of his wife and a taxi operator.

The double life sentences for each convict were handed down in the Home Circuit Court today. 

The 48 year old businessman, along with two of his co-convicts, 34-year-old construction worker Dwayne Pink and 33-year-old tailor and salesman Michael Adams, were each given two sentences of life imprisonment.

The other convict, 24-year-old marketer Shaquila Edwards, who was found guilty of conspiracy to murder, was sentenced to one-year imprisonment.

In passing the sentences today Justice Leighton Pusey ordered that Collymore must serve 46 years in prison before he can be eligible for parole.

Adams will have to serve 42 years and six months, before he will be eligible for parole.

Pink is to serve 32 years and six months before he is eligible for parole.

Meanwhile, Collymore and Pink were also sentenced to one year and six months imprisonment for conspiracy to murder, while Adams was sentenced to two years and six months for conspiracy to murder.

The sentences are to run concurrently.

The 4 men were convicted by a seven-member jury in May. 

The crown led evidence that Collymore contracted Adams to kill his wife, 32 year old Simone Campbell Collymore, in order to claim a multi-million dollar insurance benefit.

Mrs. Campbell Collymore, and taxi operator Winston Walters were killed in January 2018.

They were shot dead by gunmen just as Walters taxi arrived at Mrs. Campbell Collymore’s St. Andrew home. 

Following investigations, 5 persons were arrested and charged.

One of them, 27 year old labourer Wade Blackwood pleaded guilty to double murder and conspiracy to murder in March 2021. 

Blackwood was sentenced to 35 years imprisonment.

He testified for the prosecution.
