A male student of the Oberlin High School in St Andrew has been hospitalized after he was stabbed during an altercation involving other students in Lawrence Tavern Square in the area today (June 16).

Head of the St Andrew North Police Superintendent Sherika Service said the child claimed that he was not part of the fight and is unaware of why he was wounded.

The child’s wounds are said to be minor.

Superintendent Service said the incident took place at about 3 PM.

She said the police have identified another student who was involved in the altercation and he is being sought for questioning.

She said it is not clear if the incident is gang-related.
