NSWMA to conduct dengue mitigation measures in high risk areas next week
Starting next week, the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) will be rolling out several programmes to combat dengue in areas deemed high risk.
Local Government Minister, Desmond McKenzie says the programmes will be enabled through funds from his Ministry, as it ramps up the response to the recently declared dengue outbreak in the country.
Mr. McKenzie is also urging Jamaicans to do what is necessary to destroy mosquito breeding sites, which would help to reduce the illness across the island.
He was speaking at a post NSWMA Board Retreat Media Briefing yesterday.
Meantime, Executive Director of the NSWMA Audley Gordon says his team is fully prepared to respond to the dengue outbreak.
