Labour Minister Pearnel Charles Jr. says his Ministry has not received any formal report of nepotism or favouritism relating to the Seasonal Agricultural Worker Programme recruitment process.

This as research fellow at the University of the West Indies, Dr. Natalie Dietrich Jones said there were claims of such incidents in the recruitment process.

She was speaking recently, during a virtual discussion on the Canadian Farm Work Programme.

In response to her claims, Mr. Charles Jr. said that though he has not received a formal report, there is some basis for examination.

Despite the potential for those issues to take place, Mr. Charles Jr. said his Ministry remains committed to strengthening the eligibility processes to ensure that those who should benefit get the opportunity to do so.
