“No fire at the Riverton Landfill; fumes are normal” -Gordon
The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) says it is customary for fumes to emanate from minor areas of the Riverton Landfill in St. Andrew.
NSWMA’s Executive Director, Audley Gordon made the clarification amid reports that smoke was still coming from the dump, after last Tuesday’s fire.
The smoke from the fire affected residents and entities in the region.
Speaking with Irie FM News this morning, Mr Gordon said while there are some small pockets of fumes coming from the dump, no smoke is affecting residents.
