Most children reported missing in 2023, returned home the same day of the report-CPFSA

Most of  the island’s children who were reported missing, in 2023, returned home the same day the report was made.

Ananda Alert Officer at the Child Protection and Family Services Agency, CPFSA Annadjae Roberts made the revelation at the Ananda Alert Regional Conference in Kingston, yesterday.

The Conference was held ahead of International Missing Children’s Day, which is being observed today.

Ms. Roberts said last year, 1029 missing children reports were made and over 900 of those children were located alive.

She noted that at least 2 of those children returned home within 8 months.

In other cases approximately 10 per cent returned home within a month, 6 per cent within 2 to 4 weeks, and 30 per cent, the same day.

Meanwhile, Ms. Roberts has emphasised that people do not have to wait  until 24 hours to report a child missing.

She also noted that of the over 1000 children reported missing last year, 126 have not yet been found, while one was found dead.
