Mortgages disbursed by NHT declined by 24.2% to $6.2 billion during last quarter of 2024 -PIOJ
The total value of mortgages disbursed by the National Housing Trust (NHT) declined by 24.2 per cent to 6.2 billion dollars during the last quarter of 2024.
Director General of the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) Dr. Wayne Henry made the revelation during a quarterly press conference yesterday.
Dr. Henry was commenting on the estimated decline of 2.1 per cent in the construction industry and the 19 per cent downturn in housing starts by the NHT.
Dr. Henry added that the decline in other components of the construction industry was due to the fall off in capital expenditure for civil engineering activities.
