More than 20 taxi operators prosecuted, majority for overcharging, following fare increase
The Transport Authority says it has received reports of overcharging of fares across several parishes with more than 20 operators being prosecuted.
Fares went up by 19 percent on Sunday. However, on Tuesday was the first business day since the new fares.
Managing director of the Transport Authority Ralston Smith says one area is the Norwich route in Portland which he says is now on the authority’s radar.
He said of the more than 20 operators, 70 percent were prosecuted for overcharging.
